February Newsletter 2023

Dear Residents,

Winter is now officially in full swing! Thanks for keeping vehicles off the streets overnight as snowplowing can occur in the early morning hours.

To this point, we have been unable to put the ice rink on the tennis courts. The ground has to be frozen under the rink to keep the water frozen. With temperatures expected to warm into the 40s this week, we are in a wait-and-see mode on when or if the ice rink is put up. Stay tuned.

New flooring is being installed at the Pigeon Event Center (formerly the VFW Hall) to be completed by February 7th. Stop in to see the new floor and completely renovated hall. The old floor was installed in the 1960s.

No major street projects are planned for 2023. Some blacktop repairs and additional sidewalk work will be done in 2023. A complete rebuild of Berne Street (beside the Cooperative Elevator) is scheduled for 2024 with the Village, Winsor Township, and the Cooperative Elevator sharing the cost of the project.

Enjoy these winter months and look froward to spring in the Thumb.

Sincerely,
Mike LePage
Village President

Yard Waste

Emterra’s yard waste pickup will resume in April 1, 2023. If you have branches or grass clippings that need to be taken care of please take them to the DPW Garage at 70 N. Main St. Please do not place tree branches, leaves and other yard debris out in the street. It creates a hazard for other residents; and can make it difficult to clear snow.

Village Hours

Hall: 9am – 4pm

DPW: 7 am –3:30pm

Monday through Friday unless otherwise posted.

Snow Removal

To make the job of snow removal, go as smoothly as possible, please do not put your trash in the street and if possible, please wait to set your trash out until after the plows have passed. If you have a portable basketball hoop out by the street, please move it back so the plows do not hit them.

Police Parking Reminder

No parking on village streets between 2am and 6am. Violators will be ticketed.
