June Newsletter 2024

Dear Residents,

Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy the nice weather. Baseball and softball season is in full swing at our recreation park.

Congratulations to our Little League Board for a very successful tournament last weekend. 44 teams from all over the Thumb and beyond participated this year, bringing an estimated 3,000 people into our town. It takes tremendous planning and a countless number of volunteer hours to pull it off. All proceeds from the concession stand go back into the program for the kids. Thanks also to the Winsor Township Fire Department, Pigeon Lions Club, and Pigeon Rotary Club for grilling the burgers, brats, and hot dogs all weekend long. Thanks to all who volunteered their time to make the tournament a huge success.

On Memorial Day Pigeon held its first Memorial Day Service in many years at Veterans Park. A nice crowd attended the service with the help of many local veterans.

Our Summer Recreation Program for kids is in full swing at the recreation park with 63 kids participating. Thanks to Thumb Bluewater Youth for Christ and Scheurer Health for their coordination of the program. Several field trips are planned during the summer for the kids.

Summer maintenance projects in the Village are under way, with the reconstruction of Berne Street being our big project. Enjoy the summer, and remember any comments or suggestions are always welcome at a Village Council Meeting.

Have a great summer!

Sincerely,
Michael LePage
Village President
