October Newsletter 2021
Dear Residents,
Fall is here and harvest time in our area is in full swing. Our DPW is busy preparing for leaf pickup and winter snow removal. Sidewalk replacement is nearing completion as we are trying to replace bad stretches of sidewalk all over town. We allocated funds in the area of $30,000 to repair sidewalks. We will continue next year to repair as many feet of sidewalk we can.
The village will have a new police vehicle operational in the next 6 weeks due to a grant we received from the USDA that paid 75% of the cost. We have also received a grant of $215,475.00 for infrastructure improvements on N. Frank Street. The project will take place next summer.
Our pickleball courts are completely finished and ready to go. Equipment is provided at the court area if you would like to try this very popular new sport. We also will be preparing for our skating rink to be ready again for community skating this winter.
A downtown tree replacement project in the municipal parking lot at James St & W. Michigan Ave will also be completed yet this fall. Enjoy the rest of your fall.
Sincerely,
Michael LePage
Village President

Leaf Pickup
We are asking that you place your leaves on the grass between the curb and the sidewalk. Placing the leaves on the grass, instead of the street, enables us to pick up the leaves during wet conditions and protects our storm sewers in the process. We will start picking up leaves on Mon., Oct.11th and continue to be scheduled to pick up leaves on Mon. & Thurs. until Mon. Nov. 29th pending the weather. Please have your leaves out by 7:00 am on the day of pickup. Do not place anything but leaves in the piles. Also for everyone’s safety please remember if you can’t see the operator of the Leaf Machine, he cannot see you. Thank you for your cooperation.
