December Newsletter 2024
Dear Residents,
We’ve made a big leap from a mild late fall straight into winter!
We’re pleased to report that the Berne Street reconstruction project was completed just in the nick of time. The first layer of blacktop was installed during some nice weather, and the finishing layer will be done in the spring, allowing everything to settle properly. The project cost $1.1 million to complete, and it was a collaborative effort between the Village, Winsor Township, and the Cooperative Elevator. Much can be accomplished when we work together!
It’s important to note that this project was funded through tax dollars collected for streets, water, and sewer improvements. There is no short- or long-term debt incurred by our residents.
A big thanks to Thumb Bank and the Pigeon Chamber of Commerce for another wonderful town lighting event, held the Friday after Thanksgiving. Generations of families have enjoyed this annual tradition.
Our Village Playscape Committee is hard at work raising funds for a new playscape structure at the recreation park. A Community Club Raffle is in the works to help fund the proposed $160,000 project. If you’d like to contribute, donations can be made to the Village Playscape Fund at 29 South Main Street, Pigeon.
Hats off to our DPW staff for their beautiful Christmas light display along Main Street.
Best wishes from your Village Council for a joyous holiday season and a happy, healthy 2025!
Sincerely,
Michael LePage
Village President
