December Newsletter 2020

Dear Residents,

The calendar is starting to say winter is just about here. With the election over, we thank Rob Chandonnet for his years of service on the Village Council, as he did not seek re-election. Longtime resident Kent Tibbits will replace Rob as a Trustee on the Council.

Our DPW Staff is busy getting ready for the winter season of snow plowing and salting Village Streets and parking lots. We ask from now until spring to keep vehicles off the streets overnight, to help with snow and ice removal.

We are saddened at the recent passing of retired DPW Worker, Mike Graf. Mike worked for the Village of Pigeon for 37 years retiring in 2016.

A Village skating rink will be erected on the Pigeon Recreation Basketball and Tennis Court area. Open skating and Hockey will be scheduled and listed on the Village Website and Facebook page. With COVID-19 all around us, the Village Council wanted to create a safe outdoor activity for both kids and adults. The skating rink is being financed by the Pigeon Community Fund and Apple Blossom Wind Energy. The skating rink will be scheduled and maintained by volunteer Village residents.

Also, a big thanks to the Winsor Township Fire Department which has offered to keep the rink full of water. Nighttime lighting will be available for night skating.

Best wishes for a Happy and Safe Holiday Season, from your Village Council and Staff.

Sincerely,
Michael LePage
Village President

Preparing for Winter

DPW Staff is busy getting ready for the winter season of snow plowing and salting Village Streets and parking lots. We ask from now until spring to keep vehicles off the streets overnight, to help with snow and ice removal.

Police Parking Reminder

No parking on village streets between 2am and 6am. Violators will be ticketed.

Snow Removal

To make the job of snow removal, go as smoothly as possible, please do not put your trash in the street and if possible, please wait to set your trash out until after the plows have passed. If you have a portable basketball hoop out by the street, please move it back so the plows do not hit them.

Yard Debris/Brush

Please do not place tree branches, leaves and other yard debris out in the street. It creates a hazard for other residents; and can make it difficult to clear snow. If you have branches, leaves or yard debris please take them to the DPW Garage at 70 N. Main St.

Leaf Pickup

The last scheduled pickup will be Friday, December 4, 2020. Please place the leaves between the curb and sidewalk not in the street.
