Read MoreWith Summer here we have many things going on in the Village. The N. Frank St. Reconstruction Project from Michigan Avenue to Charles Street will begin in a few weeks. The Village received a grant of $215,475 for the Project. Our new Pickle Ball courts are getting good use at the recreation park. Equipment is provided to play pickleball for residents at the courts. Read MoreFall is here and harvest time in our area is in full swing. Our DPW is busy preparing for leaf pick-up and winter snow removal. Sidewalk replacement is nearing completion as we are trying to replace bad stretches of sidewalk all over town. The village will have a new police vehicle operational in the next 6 weeks due to a grant we received from the USDA that paid 75% of the cost. Please be reminded to put leaves on the edge of your grass, and not over the curb and into the street. Wet leaves are harder to pick up. Last week the East Michigan Ave/South Frank Street project was completed. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during the project. We thank a great number of those who helped with storm cleanup from early June, as well as the contributors of the new pump station projects to rebuild pumps at Hartley and North Main Streets, in addition to those who contributed to the new upcoming pickle-ball courts and tennis and basketball court upgrades. Read MoreNormally this time of year our Recreation Park would be bustling with spring and summer activities, and hopefully soon our facilities will be open again. Our annual Summer Recreation Program for kids had to be canceled, as well as our Summerfest Festival and parade. Completion of our project from last year on East Michigan Avenue at the corner of North Main and Michigan Avenue to South Frank Street will begin very soon. We recently received clarification of the Governor’s Executive order and closed down playscapes, playgrounds, pavilions, and basketball courts. This is so hard to do, but we have to ensure we are using social distancing. Our leaf pickup machine is not ready for operation, so please deliver your leaves to the DPW garage drop area, or put in your yard refuse container with an X on it, beginning April 1st. Please cooperate with the CDC posted COVID-19 guidelines. Please be safe as we go through the coming weeks to get through this safely. Read MoreWith January behind us, I hope you are having a good winter so far. We were very fortunate with the weather last fall, to complete phase 1 of our East Michigan Avenue/South Frank project. This spring when the weather breaks, we will begin Phase 2. We also have additional sidewalk improvements planned, and additional upgrades to our Recreation Park coming. What a crazy fall from a weather standpoint. 10 inches of snow during leaf season has been challenging. We will continue to pick up leaves the next couple of weeks through December 12th.
